Project Overview
“Lost Shards” is an introspective project that explores the process of healing through the reliving of memories as one potential path towards resolving old traumas. This series presents a distinctive aesthetic characterized by thick brushstrokes, dark tones, and rough textures.
The goal of "Lost Shards" is to create a heavy, emotive style that captures the complexity and intensity of human emotions. Through portraits and abstracts, this project invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences and memories, fostering a sense of catharsis and healing as they reconnect with their past selves.

Inspiration & Intent
The concept for "Lost Shards" emerged from a dream, where I vividly saw the image "Disconnection". This moment sparked a sense of familiarity, akin to revisiting an old memory. It was as if my subconscious had conjured up a visual representation of a universal human experience – one that I felt compelled to explore further.
The dream-like quality of this initial vision informed the development of the series. The thick brushstrokes and dark colors that characterized the image "Disconnection" became defining features of the style, evoking an intense emotional resonance. I then experimented with exaggerated, cartoon-like forms for human portraits – mirroring the themes I sought to convey.
Through this process, I evolved a color scheme capable of generating a diverse range of images, each with its own distinct tone and atmosphere. The result is a series that not only explores the human experience but also offers a unique visual language – one that I hope will resonate with others on a deep and profound level.
Process & Tools
The development of "Lost Shards" began with a foundation built on my previous work, specifically the series "Heartbeats". I used Stable Diffusion XL (SDXL) to further refine the aesthetic by introducing thick brushstrokes and a new color palette.
To inject a deeper level of emotional resonance into the images, I integrated a custom LLM (Large Language Model) agent derived from llama3.1. This innovative tool enabled me to translate the concept of "healing through reliving memories" into detailed descriptions of visual imagery, effectively bridging the gap between idea and image.
To achieve the desired level of detail and resolution in the final images, I employed Topaz Gigapixel AI.
